Do you know the history of the traditional Laguiole steak knife that decorates the most beautiful tables in the world?
The Laguiole knife, famous for its curved shape and for the bee that adorns the bolster in the extension of the spring, is native to the small village of Laguiole, in Aveyron. This knife was originally a folding knife. The cutlery Claude Dozorme was the first to decline from pocket knife to table knife.
The blade of this table knife is made of very high quality X50CrMoV15 stainless steel. The blade has an unrivalled cutting edge, and a very good hold on the wire. The precise grinding of the knife carried out in our workshops allows an easy re-sharpening.
The blade of this Laguiole table knife goes to the end of the handle, which gives it extreme strength.
For a complete and harmonious service, we advise you to complete your collection with forks from the same range. To do this, we propose you to discover our wood boxes of 12 pieces (6 knives and 6 forks) ready to use.
This classic table knife comes in several models :
Acrylic in black, red, cream or gingham check (very resistant material which is dishwasher safe)
Matt or shiny stainless steel
These knives are delivered in a 2, 4 or 6 places beech wood box.
Our Laguiole table knives are entirely made in the workshops of the Claude Dozorme cutlery, in Thiers, the French capital of cutlery. Behind each knife, there is the manual and artisanal work of a skilled craftsman.
The blade of this Laguiole knife goes to the end of the handle, which guarantees it an extreme solidity.
The blade is made of X50CrMoV15 steel, it consists of:
- 0.50 carbon, which gives the blade an excellent cutting edge and a clean cut,
- 0,15 of chromium, for stainless steel,
- 1% molybdenum and vanadium, which gives flexibility to the blade and thus allows easy re-resharpening
All the steps of making the knife, are entirely handmade in the workshops of the Claude Dozorme cutlery, by our skilled and passionate craftsmen, trained in traditional and artisanal methods.
